WEATHER CONDITIONS

Season phenology: late

Weather conditions:

There was more snow than on average, the spring cold, windy, with frequent snowfalls and a few rains. Ice dissappeared from small lakes by 10.07, from large - 20.07. July very warm, little precipitation. Daily avarege temperature exceeded 0 degrees on 7.06, 5 degrees - on 24.06. Permafrost melted at 2-3 sm 20-24.06.

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Breeding conditions:

Late, cold, prolonged spring, warm, favourable for breeding summer (25.06-15.08). Minimal number of lemmings. Average number of arctic foxes, which did not breed. No breeding of buzzards, owls, squas (except for Long-tailed Squa). The flood somewhat higher than usial, high water level on rivers till end of July. Wader clutches were destroyed by Arctic Foxes and sometimes trampled by reindeers. Generally breeding success was not better than average.

Summary of fauna studies:

Surveyed 600 km of Boganida R., its tributories and adjacent areas, 700 km of Kheta R. from Volochanka settlement to Khatanga R. and Khatanga R. to Khatanga settlement. Found 170 nests of birds, primarily waterfowl (ducks, white-fronted geese, red-breasted geese, Cygnus cygnus), black-throated diver, waders, gulls, arctic tern, willow ptarmigan, passerines. 29 birds ringed, captures and collected 71 bird. Interesting faunistic records were made and moult sites found.
